This is my second post on the color in Zion National Park this year. I’m a little delayed in editing. More coming up.
Autumn Brilliance – East Side Zion National Park

The East Side is through the main tunnels on the road to Mt. Carmel. Get out and explore.

That an image under one of the small tunnels under the road that heads to Mt. Carmel.
The road to Mt. Carmel runs along Clear Creek. Most of the time the creek is dry, especially fall and winter.
There are many parking areas along the road. Get out of the car and explore some of the areas.

The above three images were all taken in nearly the same spot. There was no direct light on any of the images.
The soft yet vibrant colors with no harsh shadows are all reflected light bouncing off canyon wall.
Clear Creek

The shot above and below are near a parking are right along clear creek. The whit rocks along the bottom is the dry creek bed.

Casual hikers should just get out and hike anywhere. Photographers should look for areas in the shade where light is bouncing into the canyons.
Zion Canyon Photography Tips
- Direct sunlight is a killer.
- Look for images with reflected light.
- Polarizers remove unwanted reflections. All of these images used a polarizer.
