Reflection Canyon is in Utah. It’s part of Lake Powell.

There are two ways to get to Reflection Canyon: by boat, or by 16-miles round trip trudge on unmarked trail.
I went by boat on an Action Photo excursion. There were six of us plus two guides.
A 16-mile trudge, some of it over sand, on an unmarked trail, with no shade, needing to carry water, shelter, and camera gear is beyond my physical ability.
By boat you need to scramble up 400-500 feet in a half-mile with a 40-50 pound pack. That’s better than going 16 miles over land with an even heaver pack because you need more water.
There are a couple thin ridges, about a foot wide, where you do not want to fall. Fortunately you are leaning into a rock wall, with lots of hand holds so no one had a difficult time.
We camped overnight. Everyone had a sleeping bag but no tent. Temperatures were in the low 30s, so it was cold.
April and early May are perfect times to get a nice sunrise and a nice Milky Way arch over the canyon, weather permitting. The next day it snowed.
I have a nice milky way image from the trip, and will describe what that takes in my next post.
Near the Top, Looking Down
The sidelighting on the rocks makes a great foreground.

I took the lead pano from the above spot, excluding the right side of the image.

We had great clouds at sunrise, unfortunately they were not over Reflection Canyon.

Mish, I like the diagonal foreground of slickrock on the lower right balanced out with the sunrise on upper left framing the beautiful canyon in the middle. So peaceful. Nice job!
I don’t think I’ve seen photos any more beautiful than these. Thanks for the post.
