Explore Abandoned Cars at the Wall Street Mill in Joshua Tree NP

Take an easy hike to a gold mine and interesting rusted cars.

The Wall Street Mill was an operable gold ore crushing mill featuring late-19th century two-stamp mill machinery.

The mill is interesting but if you are a fan of old cars, you will enjoy the hike even more.

It’s an easy 2 mile loop to a mine that passes a rusted card, an old windmill and the mine. Take the left fork of the trail to see the rusted car below, or the right fork to see a windmill.

The Mill

Near the mill there are two old rusted cars. The lead image is one of them. Here is a different angle of the lead image.

The next wreck is bit harder to find. It’s hidden in some brush on the trail to the mill.

Here’s a frontal view of the truck.

I did this hike twice.

The first day was near full sun, and the second day was nearly overcast. The mill, and especially the cars, photograph better on a cloudy day.

The windmill photographs better on a sunny day. Hope for a cloudy day if hiking the trail just once.
