Over a dozen hummingbirds were active in my garden in mid-September. Here are some images.
These images are from our backyard.
We have two hummingbird poles with two feeders on each.
The birds are territorial and chase each other away from the feeders. They kept flying back and forth between the feeders, chasing each other.
To freeze the motion on the wings, I used a very high shutter speed of 1/8,000th of a second.
You can see the territorial behavior in the above image. One of the birds seems to be screaming “This feeder is mine”.
I watched the birds for an hour taking many hundreds of images to review. I was astonished by the lead image with 5 birds in a row all in the same plane of focus.
