Under the Escalante Natural Bridge

This is a view with an extreme wide angle lens from beneath the Escalante Natural Bridge in the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument.

Feature Image Details

I scrambled up under the bridge for these images.

This view is possible only via panorama stitching or an extreme wide angle full-frame lens. The former is problematic with trees and wind and moving clouds. I used a higher ISO to stop movement in the leaves.

There are no restrictions and it is not a hard scramble. The lead image was towards the top. I was sliding and the footing was not at all stable. It was not dangerous per se but I was sliding, sitting down and not going fast until I found my footing.

Here is a second from the top. There is no danger of slipping once you get to the top.

  1. Very nice shot. Love the color tones of the sandstone.

Stay out of slot canyons during potential flash floods. I read where a lady drowned in Lake Powell area during a sudden thunderstorm this past week.
