Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore Sable Falls

Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore is one of my favorite spots on Lake Superior. It is a fantastic park for hiking. The waterfalls are exceptional after a Spring or Summer rain.

Sable Falls is best if the water level is not too high as is the case here. Sometimes these huge potholes are completely underwater.

I used a Canon 16-35MM F4 L Lens

The focal length was 33mm for 0.6 seconds at F16, ISO 500.

Shoot Verticals Too!

If you want magazine covers, you need to shoot vertical images.

If a scene works both ways, I shoot both.

As of July, I am no longer in the Midwest. We moved to Southern Utah, happy to be out of Illinois, but I will miss some of my favorite spots in the Midwest.

  1. Lovely shot of the waterfall. Don’t worry about being in the desert southwest. You’ve already gotten a lot of great shots from there. Variety is the spice of life. You can always head back to the Midwest on vacation. It’s not going anywhere.
